Chapter 15: Kamikazes


Meanwhile on the other side of the city, some garage doors were opening up. Coming out of each one was a gray semi-truck with red windshields. They were all pulling out for their roles in the Realm as the Realm Hazards. They pulled out, and began searching for drivers. In a different part of the city, a Recon Drone was recording the Realm, and searching for any opposing drivers. It spotted Nolo, and a few other drivers coming off the freeway. Gelorum took note of this, and contacted her Drones. "The organics are leaving the freeway." She informed. The Drones understood, and also took the first exit. But they weren't the only ones. About four Datsun Bluebirds also left the freeway, defying the Realm. Back with Tork, he was driving through the streets with ease. But he wasn't alone. Nolo was driving on the lifted street just above him. Nolo took a glance at Tork, then continued his focus on the road. He was going to jump down, but stopped before running into a subway tram that was speeding on the lifted railroads next to him. Lani contacted him at this point. "Nolo, this is Lani." She said, "I'm downloading data on the most important skills in city driving." "And you're gonna teach me how to be a street-racer?" Nolo asked. He huffed before responding. "My brother took care of that." He said, shifting gears. He steered to the right, and used his jump-jets to jump from the lifted street, to the railroad. Next, he jumped from the railroad, to the bottom street Tork was on. He floored his gas, and rammed Tork from behind. "You ready to fight, yet!?" He asked. Tork just shook his head. "Kid, you don't know when to quit!" He said. He slammed his brakes, forcing Nolo to move to the left, behind the pillars holding up the railroad. They both kept looking at each other. Then, Nolo jerked toward Tork, and was grinding his car. Tork managed to pull away just before he hit a pillar, and went behind Nolo. He shifted gears, and floored it. He managed to get Nolo's rear corner, and turned right, while pushing the gas further down, causing Nolo to spin out, and hit a pillar. Frustrated, he slammed his fist on his steering wheel, sounding the horn. Meanwhile, Blaze was also driving through the streets with well focus. But she didn't take notice of Blizzard following her. He floored his gas, and pulled up to her side. Then he shoved Blaze to the left. "Let's settle this now!" Blizzard said, "See who's better once and for all!" "You're so naive, Blizzard." Blaze said, "You never focus on the real tasks. That's going to get you into trouble." She floored her gas, and got ahead of Blizzard. They drifted a left turn, and were neck and neck again. "You've never given me a chance to do anything!" Blizzard said, "Always taking my fights, and doing it yourself!" Blizzard got ahead of Blaze. Then, he stuck his hand out while steering with the other, and covered the road behind him in ice. Blaze was starting to lose traction, and was slipping from left to right. Then, Blizzard turned right while still freezing the road. This is where Blaze lost all grip, and hit the wall of a building. With an angry groan, she changed her tires to ice treads, and her wheels grew small spikes in them for traction on the icy roads. She chased after Blizzard. Meanwhile, Karma and Amy were racing through the city with ease. But they were suspicious. "There's something wrong with this Realm." Tikal said. "What is it, Tikal?" Amy asked. "She's right." Karma said, "It's too easy. Just driving on city streets isn't-" She was cut off as a Semi-truck rammed her Chicane, and was driving with her at its grill. "KARMA!" Amy yelled. Karma looked to her left. The Semi was heading straight for a building. She quickly shifted to reverse, and pulled out of the way. The Semi crashed into the building, and exploded. Karma relaxed, and Amy caught up to her. "What was that?" Amy asked. "Kamikaze Semis." Carlos answered, reading his computer, "They're apparently the main obstacles for the Metro Realm." "Are you saying that was a suicide bomber?" Chuck asked. "Yes, and there's more of them in the city." Carlos answered, "You better be careful. Watch every corner." "Got it." Amy said. The two drivers then continued driving. Meanwhile on a different street, Monkey had stopped in the middle of the street with a problem: the mega gulp had gone through him, and he had to go. "Hey, has anyone seen a bathroom around here?" He asked, "I need to flush out the radiator. You know what I mean? Uhh...drain the oilpan." Tikal was looking at the computer with Spine Buster. Nothing seemed wrong. "Are you having engine trouble?" She asked. Dr. Tezla gave her a weird look as if she was stupid. But she didn't see it. "Um, Tikal?" Carlos said, "I think he means he has to go." "That's one way to put it." Monkey said, "Heh, a whole city with no restrooms. It's like being in New York!" He spotted a fire hydrant, and pulled up to it. Just as he was stepping out, he heard a loud horn. He looked ahead, and spotted a Kamikaze Semi heading his way. He shifted to reverse, and floored the gas. The Semi was getting closer by the second. "You can tell Wylde he can have his car back!" Monkey said. The Semi horned again. With a scream in panic, Monkey pulled to the side, and yanked the Emergency brake. He managed to escape the Kamikaze. The Semi pulled its own brakes, and tried to spin around. But because of its bulky weight, it flipped onto its side. Monkey was getting overconfident when he saw this. "Yeah!" He cheered with a chuckle, "That's what happens when you MESS WITH THE MONKEY!" Just then, two RD-02's drove into the scene. "Wuh, ooh. Monkey better get movin!" Monkey said quickly. He shifted to drive, and sped out of the scene. Meanwhile in another part of the city, one of the four Bluebirds had stopped at an intersection, and made a right. At that point, it entered a Hyperpod (the Crawlerpod), and headed back to the freeway. Meanwhile, Stryke and Mirage were currently mastering every corner in the city. Stryke was looking up at the billboards and street signs while they were driving. "Hey, Mirage." Stryke called. "Yeah?" Mirage asked. "Have you noticed that the street signs all have the symbols that are on the Wheel of Power?" Stryke asked. Mirage took a look at the signs herself. "You're right." She said, "They do look like them. You think maybe it was actually part of their language?" "You've both pointed out something very informal, you two." Dr. Eggman said, "We're researching it right now." Just then, Stryke heard the alien motors of the Racing Drones' cars. He looked behind, and saw two Drones coming up fast. And one was heading straight for Mirage! "MIRAGE! LOOK OUT!" He warned. Mirage looked back, and saw the Drone coming up. She moved out of the way at the last second. Then, she transformed into an RD-L1, and her car transformed into an RD-08. The new Drone floored it, and shoved the RD-S1 off the road, and into a building, exploding on contact. "Now to destroy the other one." Said Mirage. She continued to battle them off the road while they kept driving. Meanwhile, Carbon and Aaron were also driving through the streets with their music playing. Carbon was listening to "Sonic Speed Riders", while Aaron was listening to "Accelorate" by Cashis Clay and Kelly Lee McCartney. They turned left when Carbon heard the Drones coming up from behind. He looked back to see them. "Drones from behind!" He told Aaron. "Why don't we celebrate with some music?" Aaron asked with a grin. He turned up his music to full blast. With no roof to his Tantrum, there was no surface minimizing the volume to the outside. This booming music started messing up the Drones' sensors, and they started swerving left and right in confusion until they were taken down by a Semi. "Woah! Did you see that?!" Carbon asked. "Yeah! That truck was huge!" Aaron said. "You guys need to be careful." Carlos said, "Those are Kamikaze Semis. They'll crash into buildings just to take you out! Watch your corners." "Will do, Carlos." Carbon said. They both kept their eyes on the lookout.
