Chapter 2: Conference


"I don't know how many Realms the Racing Drones have completed." Dr. Tezla said, looking out at the giant Wheel of Power, "How many Accelechargers they've won. I do know that we have exactly three." Monkey looked over at Porkchop, who was sleeping quite obviously. He slapped his arm to wake him up. "You will take those three Accelechargers into the Realms with you." Dr. Tezla continued, "You will use them to complete more Realms. Win more Accelechargers." "And you'll be using this." Dr. Eggman said, pushing a button on the controls. Suddenly, a hologram of a green tire hovered above the center of the table. Monkey quickly recognized it. "Hey!" he said, "It's that wheel we took from that Drone's car!" "Dr. Tezla and Dr. Eggman have reverse-engineered the Drones' technology, and made new wheels for all your cars." Lani said. The tire started changing into multiple treads as they spoke. "The tires can morph into eight different treads for ALL driving conditions." Tikal added. The drivers all watched in awe of the breakthrough they had just made, especially Tails. "This is a major breakthrough!" he said excitedly. "Yes, Tails, but let's not get off-track." Carlos said, "Dr. Tezla, continue." "I'm also ready to equip every car with an EDR device: Emergency Driver Return." Dr. Tezla said. Now Kurt was interested. "The EDR allows a driver in an emergency situation to escape from a Realm immediately...without his or her car." Nolo then spoke up. "THE TEKU DON'T ESCAPE!" he said in correction, "We drive." "Yeah, like Vert." Markie said in sarcasm. This made Vert get up in slight anger. "You lookin for a FIGHT!?" Markie yelled. Kurt then stood up. "I am!" he said. "Easy, guys." Sonic said, "We're trying to work together, remember?" "Like I'd work with YOU, Faker!" Shadow spat. Sonic started clenching his teeth and fists at his comment. "Come on, Sonic." Tails said, "Remember, rage doesn't solve anything." Sonic just sighed, and he, Kurt, and Vert sat back down. "It's too bad Kadeem didn't have an EDR in HIS car." Taro said from the back of the room. Everyone looked over. "REMEMBER KADEEM?!" he asked. "When ARE we going after Kadeem?" Vert asked, slightly worried about his former fellow driver. Lani sighed, then spoke up next. "We ALL wish we could rescue Kadeem, Vert." she said, "But we can't go back into the Realm where he was trapped, because-" "The IMPORTANT thing now is to stop the Drones from getting MORE Accelechargers." Dr. Tezla interrupted, "I don't care if a driver is Teku, OR a Metal Maniac. We need the BEST." Nolo then stood up again. "You've GOT the best!" he said, referring to his own team. "And with ME on our side, we'll have every last Accelecharger before the Realms even open!" Sonic said with his always overconfident smile. Tork stood up also. "We could take the Drones, AND the Teku!" he said. "Let's SCRAP those Drones!" Porkchop said. "The drivers are ready. Now what about your CARS?" Dr. Tezla said with a smile.

(The scene flashes down to the garages of the Acceledrome, where each driver is modifying their own cars.)

Nolo smiled and nodded as a mechanical arm brought down his new car, the High Voltage (look it up on Accelepedia). Vert was screwing in the bolts to his new wheels onto his car. Shirako was listening to his headphones as always, while modifying his car on the inside. Rouge was installing jump-jets to her lifted car. Kurt put a wheel onto his car, and Vert closed his hood. Sonic was helping his brother and sister with their wheels, while Tails helped Mina. Tork and Porkchop had their cars lifted, fixing them on the undercarriage. Nolo was torching part of his car to seal back the cover to the wiring of his car. Meanwhile, Lani was sitting in the driver's seat of Monkey's car, installing his new steering wheel, and Monkey was just looking at her from the open hood of his car. "Hey, how ya doin?" he asked, obviously trying and failing at making another move on her. Then he slipped his arm, and his engine started sparking up. Vector was putting his twin-engines back into place onto his car after fixing them. Taro and Shadow both flicked a switch on their cars, and out popped a slide-out, foldable steel, lava-plow. They knew they worked. Taro then started torching his car, sealing the cover of his car back up. Monkey was rolling in some of Dr. Tezla's new tires down to the other drivers to install. Silver saw some tanks of Nitrox², and used his psychokinesis to carry them over to his car. Blaze was using her finger as a torch to seal up her car. Lupus was doing the same thing. Blizzard looked over to the Teku side from his car, as he took another glance at Honey, who was installing her new tires. Pak put his hand on Blizzard's shoulder. "Don't worry." he told him, "It'll happen soon enough. Come on." The two cousins went back to work. Stryke showed Mirage how to replace her steering wheel. Shadow had a new idea. He got in his car, grabbed his Chaos Emerald, and closed his eyes. "Chaos CONTROL!" he yelled. He had teleported his car to the other side of the Acceledrome. He knew his idea worked, so he drove back to his side of the garage. Tikal helped Knuckles with his new wheels. Karma was test-driving her car on the Realm simulator. Tork flicked a switch on his car, door open, and a spear-hook slid out from under the car. Amy was putting on her new wheels to her car. Markie installed his new steering wheel carefully. Once Karma had hers installed, she pressed a button on her wheel, and her tires had produced small spikes all over. Chuck came up to her window, and told her they worked.
